Over the years, we’ve listened to their sales pitches and read their marketing material. The deck material vendors have done a pretty good job of marketing…but the materials they’ve distributed have just never held up in our opinion. We made suggestions, but for whatever reason, the suppliers just kept producing the same mediocre material. So we finally set out to make a real difference in homeowners’ and deck builders’ lives. Here’s how we’re different-

* Notes for the graphic above:

Composite/PVC is fabricated material. Tailored-Wood™ uses the highest chemical solution offered by Wolmanized™ – known as “in ground” treatment. We use this treatment in every board no matter if it has ground contact or not. This highest strength serves to preserve the deck and porch material even more. While the industry standard is to kiln-dry the wood for about 8 hours, we choose a minimum of three days for the process. This enhances the aesthetic and durability qualities of the wood.Deck and porch material is not typically milled for functionality.

deck porch differences versusWe custom mill our wood in patterns to prevent cupping, lessen the effects of a host of other deck material problems, and increase functionality (for instance, milling a channel pattern for 12 volt electrical wiring in the railing posts). Because of the enhanced beauty, functionality and longevity that Tailored-Wood™ provides, the cost per value is lower than other wood and non-wood products.

Other value-added reasons you should be building your next outdoor space using the Tailored-Wood™ line include the fact that we use the top millwork operators, that the wood used is from the best part of the tree, that we hand select the wood that is made available, the workability and stainability of the wood, and the fact that our wood is eco-friendly.

Because we are also a deck builder, we have first-hand experience from planning to installation to maintenance. Whether you’re a deck/porch contractor looking for increase value through better products, or a homeowner looking for the best material on the market, contact us.
