The post is the foundation of the deck’s railing and supports all the different construction elements. We designed a railing post that is sure to withstand the test of time, as well as be aesthetically pleasing and complementary to the deck-
- Vertical grain wood cut from the outer portion of the tree (sapwood)
- Grooved and non-grooved channel options for 12 volt electrical wiring
- Clear (99% knot-free)
We have two options for our railing post. The first is our basic one piece 4 x 4 post traditionally used for support of the railing structure.
Dimensions: 3 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ with 1/8″ eased edge. Available in 8′ and 10′ lengths.
The second is for situations that require electrical (low -12 volt) wiring. For that, we offer a post that consists of two milled 2 x 4 pieces laminated together using an industrial grade exterior wood adhesive. This post, which generally looks the same as the first, has an electrical channel running through the middle. This architecture allows electrical feed to be run through its core area opposed to being attached externally. This means no exposed wire and no need for trim covering that may come apart down the line. The final effect is a strong and attractive post that simplifies easy installation for your deck lighting wire.
*Note that like our rail cap, our railing post is strictly designed for low voltage (12 volt) electrical wiring. It is NOT designed for 110 volt electrical wiring.
Dimensions: 3 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ with a 1/2″ x 1/2″ channel for 12 volt wiring. Available in 8′ lengths.
